How do I block an IP address with a WRVS4400N wireless router?

I've been keeping an eye on my IPS report tab lately and have been watching a large number of ICMP_SMURF and DOS attacks originating from chinese ip address's.  I know I can probably block the offending ip's through the ip based acl tab in the firewall settings, but I'm kind of a newbie :smileyhappy:

Anybody care to post an example of how I can block certain ip's from touching my router?

Hmm. Honestly: if you have difficulties setting it up through that pretty simple and straight forward web interface you should either not do it at all (or may cause more trouble then anything) or ask someone else who knows about these things to do it for you...

You create a new rule:

Action: Deny
Service: ALL
Log: not checked
Log Prefix: empty
Source Interface: WAN
Source: Single - IP address of internet address to be blocked
Destination: ANY
Scheduling: default, i.e. at any time.

That's it.

The default allow all rule should appear as 2nd rule in the ACL table then. If not, you'll have to add a 2nd rule allowing all traffic as the default rule does. Rules are evaluated sequentially in order until a match is found.
