I can't get to a specific website - Linksys E3000

Hello,

I have a Linksys E3000 and everything is working fine...until one day this last week.  A website I go to all the time stopped working.  The website is Martini in the Morning, www.martiniinthemorning.com.  It's a great internet radio station.  I listen to the station via other resoures, but I can't get to the website which has lots of features I use.

The specifics are that from any of the computers connected to our network, I can't reach the site.  When I plug a computer directly into the Comcast modem, I can reach the site.  I have changed nothing that I am conscious of and everything was working until Monday of this last week.

I thought it wasn't making it out of the router, but a TRACERT shows that I am.  I have a desktop running Vista, 2 laptops running XP Pro, an iPad and none of them can connect to that site.  My iPhone can't connect when it's on the network, but when it's on 3G, it can.

I know someone may ask me to attach the TRACERT listings, so here they are.  I appreciate any and all suggestions.

Regards,

Irvin Johnson, Vancouver, WA

Re: I can't get to a specific website - Linksys E3000

Open the setup page of the router. Change the MTU to 13654.

Go to security tab and uncheck the box ' Filter Anonymous Internet Requests '.

Save the settings and power cycle the network. See if that works.

Make sure that firmware on your router is latest. If not then download the latest firmware from Linksys website and upgrade it on your router.

Re: I can't get to a specific website - Linksys E3000

Thank you dudztgp and brickmonkey.  I will rebuild the router later today.  It does seem odd that I am getting out and that it stops at 216.98.153.78 via router and makes it through without the router.

brickmonkey, the MTU size defaults to 1500 Auto.  When I change it to Manual, 1500 is the largest I can enter.   This week I downloaded the E3000 firmware update at 1.0.03 and it is still the latest.

Thanks for your help.  It's much appreciated.  Could it be possible that I've been blocked for some reason?  Between all the computers on our network, we visit a lot of websites and this is the only one that fails.

Irvin

hello,

could it be dns issue?

Try temporarily to change your dns from automatic to 8.8.8.8 (google dns), then try again.

weird thing is I am able to ping (response time 172ms)your website http://www.martiniinthemorning.com, but my tracert fails at the router level (192.168.2.1): request time out.

Also strange is I am actually able to connect it via Internet Explorer...

Try setting the MTU to manual and 1300. Then turn it off. Turn it on. Then try accessing the site again. He must have mistyped the MTU instructions.

Re: I can't get to a specific website - Linksys E3000

Actually, from my point of view, the maximal MTU value for that website is 1462.

I tried 1472 with no success(time out).

If I remember the command was>

ping -f -l 1462 www.martiniinthemorning.com

you'll get response time.

If you try with

ping -f -l 1472 www.martiniinthemorning.com

you'll get requst timed out.

so don't put anything higher than 1462.

let us know!

ps: I hadn't had to fiddle with that on my side to access that website, but still I can not do tracert to it.

weird

Re: I can't get to a specific website - Linksys E3000

Hi and thanks to all of your suggestions.  I tried each of them alone and then mixed them up a bit.  But, alas, nothing has worked.  I am going to try to reset my router to factory defaults and start over which was suggested earlier.  I haven't been able to kick everyone off the network and I'm the only one trying to get the website.

Thanks for your help.  I will continue to monitor this post and update when I have results.

Re: I can't get to a specific website - Linksys E3000

I  mistyped the MTU size. Change MTU size to 1365. Power cycle the router and see if that works.

You have already upgraded the firmware on the router. After upgrading the firmware of the router, it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure the router. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 10 seconds. power cycle the router and reconfigure the router. See if that works.

Re: I can't get to a specific website - Linksys E3000

brickmonkey,

Thank you for your help.  1365 in the MTU did resolve the problem.  I had fears my ip address had been banned for eternity ;-)

I power cycled the router, but did not reset to factory defaults and reconfigure.  I think as long as it holds, I will leave well enough alone.  One thing I don't understand is that I had it set to the default setting of 1500 since I bought the modem and it quit working last Tuesday.  BUT.......... I've been in technology long enough (and retired from it now) that I know that things change and life happens.

Thank you brickmonkey and everyone else that offered help.  I will mark it closed
