You will need to reset the router so that it goes back to default. The stock credentials is to leave username blank and type admin as password. If you'd like to know more about your Linksys E1000, go here.
or download this.

Ppress & hold the router reset button at least 20 sec. back side of the router to reset its to factory mode. Now it is ready for a new setting.
So everytime when you forget the password, and you are not able to get back it or reset it , just do the same procedure as I already mentioned above; whatever router or operating system youare using.

Hey tinycbone! The E1000's default login password is admin. Just leave the Username blank/empty and use admin for the password.
Here's a link that may help:

I am going out on a limb here and guessing: maybe if you could maybe undo the CAPS lock you would be able to log in
If this fails do another reset properly, not the button with the two refresh arrows, the button that is sunken in (use a match or toothpick)

How are you accessing the UI where you are prompted the password?
Make sure that you have reset the router properly (as suggested) as the default password ("admin" - in lowecase) will not work.
