Keeping wireless network connection

Hi, I am looking for some advice. I have set-up a new wireless PC network. I have the base desktop PC, with the cable modem and linksys router. I am using a secure-broadcast signal.

I have been able to connect with multiple PCs to the wireless signal. Two different work laptops and one personal laptop. Upon the initial set-up, I used the key and have no problem find and keeping the connection.

On my the fourth computer I use to connect, I lose the connection after 30-45 minutes. I can reconnect 2-3 times before being unable to connect at all. Configuring the network connection will not hold the key and the key does not help when it does not want to connect.

All of the wireless PCs are not being used at once, they are all connecting at different times.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Re: Keeping wireless network connection

what laptop is it?
what wireless card is it using?
built-in or does it have a card plugged to the side?
is this laptop working wirelessly somewhere else?

Re: Keeping wireless network connection

It is a Dell Laptop with an internal wireless card. I do not know the specifics.

I used it wirelessly regularly on a previous wireless DSL connection. I can also connect to other wireless signals within reach of the it at the same location.

Re: Keeping wireless network connection

is it using the windows wireless utility?
if so sometimes the number of stored profiles affect the laptops ability to connect
you may want to delete some of the profiles you are not using
also how far is situated from the router?

Re: Keeping wireless network connection

Yes, it is using the Windows wireless utility. I have cleaned all unused profiles out, leaving me 2 stored.

The distance from the router does not seem to be an impact. I have been in the same room as well as 2 floors above. It always recognizes the beacon and at worst has a "very good" signal, with the same result.

The fact that the profile will not keep the access key confuses me.

Thanks for the time and the questions.

Re: Keeping wireless network connection

can you check the make of your wireless card?
im trying to find out this is so...
by the way have you updated the driver of your wireless card?
since others computers work, it seems like the issue is with the PC

Re: Keeping wireless network connection

Thanks Zeries.

I went last night and found the card on the control panel. It is just a Dell WLAN card. I had that take control rather than the Windows Wireless Utility and it seemed to work well last night.

Thanks for the questions to get me on the right path.
