Hello my friends,
Got a problem with my new Linksys E2500 router.
I have a Huawei SmartAX MT882 cable modem, that connects to my desktop through an ethernet cable, it works fine.
Recently i bought a notebook and i thought i could have a wireless connection, using the modem as well...
so i bought a E2500 router, that is connected with ethernet cables to the desktop and the SmartAX MT882 modem.
It happens that i am not able to setup the configurations to make this work (my ISP provider doesn't help me because it is not a router supported by them).
Any hints in how to solve this issue?

Cisco Connect software comes with the Linksys Wireless-N (E-Series) Routers that let you manage your network easier. First of all Ethernet cable needs to be plugged to the computer’s LAN port into any of the router’s blue numbered Ethernet ports. Then the second Ethernet cable should be plugged to the modem’s Internet port and the other end into the router’s yellow Internet port.
Then here is the link for setting up your router for the first time using Cisco Connect

Thx binky. I had seen the FAQ's previously and i knew it had to be PPPoE, because my modem has that tipe of conectivity, with a username and password. Despite that it didn't work. I tried static IP with some trial and error values and it worked. Never the less, it was a good learning process coming here do Cisco website. Cheers

Yes i can connect.
The only thing i use with the router is the notebook wireless.
The desktop is connected by ethernet coming from the modem>router

I see... because for DSL connections, it's supposed to be either DHCP or PPOE settings.
Here's the link to setting up a router with a DSL ISP.
But if it's already working with you, I guess that's fine. but I'm posting the link just in case you may need it in the future.

Thx, i did read all the related topics.
My modem is indeed connected with PPPoE Connection but the router only works with static ip and nothing else.
Hope this helps other users in the future.
