Linksys WRT54G2 tcp forwarding problem

I have Linksys WRT54G2 v1.0 wireless router and i have a problem with forwarding ports. I have manually changed my ip to static and forwarded port 25 as written in manuals on portforward.com webpage. PFPortforwad checker says udp is forwarded but tcp isnt. What i should do?

Re: Linksys WRT54G2 tcp forwarding problem

Make sure the server is operational: Try to connect to the server from inside your LAN using the IP address you have found in the previous step. E.g. point your client software to 192.168.1.50 and port 12345. Make sure it works. Otherwise your server may not be operational.

When i tipe in firefox my IP with or without port i cant acess it. What is next step?

Try to use the different browser like IE and check if it make any difference..On the router, choose the protocol "Both".

Re: Linksys WRT54G2 tcp forwarding problem

Port 25 is usually used for SMTP. Firefox is not a mail client. Pointing your web browser to a mail server won't work. You should use a mail client to connect to port 25 on your computer. After that, the next step is the next step in the list.

Otherwise, please post the full connection status of your router from the Status page.

Also post the full and complete port forwarding, port triggering, and DMZ host settings of the router.

Also post the output of "ipconfig /all" and "netstat -an" from the computer to which you forward those ports.

Re: Linksys WRT54G2 tcp forwarding problem

1. Please don't make screenshots of command prompt outputs. Copy the text.

2. The output of netstat looks cut before the end.

3. You don't forward port 25.

4. You only forward ports 65514-65520, TCP and UDP.

5. Your computer does not use port 25 or any of those ports 65514-65520 (at least as far as the netstat output shows).

Thus, of course you cannot connect to your computer because a) you don't forward 25 but other ports and b) your computers does not use any of those ports which you forward or claim to forward.

Re: Linksys WRT54G2 tcp forwarding problem

I see i made a mistake in first post. I dont want toforwardport 25, 25 was just last number inmy ip adress. And yes i only forward ports from 65514-65520, TCP and UDP - udp is forwarded, but tcp isnt.

Re: Linksys WRT54G2 tcp forwarding problem

[ Edited ]
1. You cannot really test UDP ports. If the test says the port is open then it's wrong. The port is definitively not open. netstat clearly shows nothing listening on UDP ports 65514-65520. The test is flawed. The test is not reliable to say whether the UDP port is in fact forwarded or not.

2. As I have said before: of course the TCP port is closed because it is closed on your computer. There is nothing listening on TCP port 65514-65520 either.

The results of the test don't say anything about whether those port forwardings really work or not. The UDP test is flawed and the TCP test shows the correct result, whether you forward the port or not.

Unless your computer really uses those ports and they show up in netstat -an those ports are closed.

Port forwarding really only does what it says: it forwards a port. It has no influence on whether the port is open or closed on the computer to which you forward the port. The forwarded port will only show the status of the port on your computer. And on your computer TCP and UDP ports 65514-65520 are not in use. They are closed.
