I recently purchased an EA4500 in Australia.
The Box shows Model No. EA4500-AU
I upgraded the firmware to latest, but disliked smart WIFI so back graded to 2.0.37 using this advice:
Now the region appears to be set to EU and the vailable 5Ghz channels are restricted to The EU region.
Vendor:LINKSYS ModelName:EA4500-EU Firmware Version: 220.127.116.11047 Firmware Builddate: 2012-03-22 04:24 Product.type: production
And these are the channels available.
Australia should match USA 5Ghz channel availability.
How do I fix it?

I simply used the firmware linked in the official Linksys how to as descibed above.
The only software available on the Australian site is: FW_EA4500_18.104.22.168204.SSA
V2.1.38 and up includes cloud support.
Where do I find Australian 2.0.37 ... but somehow I suspect it isn't that simple.

Hi Wahroonga Farm. You may download the firmware version here: http://support.linksys.com/en-apac/support/routers/EA4500 and to roll back the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router Firmware to the Classic web interface, visit: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=227c9e6286124532ac52a643ca4122a5_Rolling_back_the_...

That is exactly what I have done as I described in detail above.
This exact same process turned an AU router into an EU router.

This sounds odd. It is best to ask the manufacturer's assistance as they are the best team to assist you with their device. :-)

I'll try a factory reset, but it appears LinkSys is the next port of call.
I'll report back.
This locked region code is a proper pain in the rissole.

Seems to me that there is a AU region FW specific to Austrailia. I'd phone contact your regional Linksys support office there and ask them specifically where you can get the correct FW files for your region.
Let us know what they say.

Just had a very unsatisfactory Live Chat with LinkSys support!
The cannot offer any other downgrade firmware, than the on listed above.
They suggest an upgradeto SmartWIFI again to fix the problem.
I fear I will still end up with restricted 5Ghz WIFI access, but I will give this avenue a go and report back.
What a crock this is.

So as suspected the router is now hobbled.
How do I get out of this Linkys quagmire!
