Re-download the firmware then flash the router again. After the firmware is done and the router has rebooted, do a factory reset.
When you say you can't access 192.168.1.1 is that through a wired computer?

yes, i'm accessing to the 192.168.1.1 through a wired computer, then, if i turn off the router and turn on again, i have access for a few minutes.

I've tried downloading the update and I can't get the update downloaded, can you tell me what is happening. I was told by your tech support to uninstall and then reinstall which I did from the disc that came with the unit.
Does the installation install the new update or do I have to download that separately and how do I do this because when I tried before I could not.

Hmm it looks like that there is a firmware v2 in preparation as I was mentioning in my previous post the file that is downloaded by Cisco connect looks like to be the operating system of the router, it contains the differents web pages of the router and a Linux kernel but I don't know why it won't be installed...
It would be great to have an answer from someone of Cisco support.
By the in meantime I reinstalled the las firmware and upnp looks working again... Very strange behavior....
33man, do you know where I could get an old version of the firmware? tks!

There was a link to the older firmware somewhere in this thread. That's where I grabbed my copy to downgrade my router.

Tkyou Jesterace, I've downgraded my router with the firmware v1.0.01 downloaded from here:
http://dlinkedrouter.org/firmware/
I recommend to anyone who have problems with router working after upgrade to v1.0.03 Build 14 as I've had:
my E4200 worked excellent until I've installed the v1.0.03 (Build 14)!! I've problems to open 192.198.1.1, or to continuing working once i've opened, I've my wi-fi field VERY reduced, and I've problems to re-connect a macbook once this is disconnected to the wi-fi because of the distance. In addition my LaCie Media player doesn't see anymore the wi-fi and the LaCie Hard Disk via USB on the E4200.
Right now, after installing v.1.0.01 the E4200 is working perfectly!
Thanks to hitechboy, doublej70, 33man and Jesterace!

I would not expect a version 2.x update for the current E4200. If you look at Cisco Linux normal naming convention, a 2.x name usually indicates it goes with a version 2 for the router hardware as well. To me, this indicates they may be working on a Version 2 of the E4200 at the same time they are updating the version 1 firmware and for some reason, cisco connect is picking up the new version instead of the correct one. Just my half a cent...

I also started getting this, is there a new router firmware? I have 1.0..03 build 14 installed.
Checked Cisco Connect again today and suddenly theres no more prompt for update. I just ignored the prompt the past few days, now it's gone again.
