Make sure that after you do a firmware upgrade, you delete the folder that the E4200 automatically creates on your hard drive. I think it's called twonky storage or something.
Reformatting the hard drive would also be an option if the former doesn't work.

Thanks. I actually tried deleting the twonkymedia folder and it didn't help.
i would be nice to avoid reformatting but I can give it a try.

You can try to isolate the concern by doing that, just make sure that you have a backup with your file but if in case that it will still not work and all the troubleshooting steps has been exhausted then perhaps you can check tech support.

hi mggallant!
i read your post about this issue on the other thread List of tested External Hard Drives for E4200 . looks like you tried the upgrade on another unit and got the same results. mine is working on the latest FW just fine though.
i guess Ver1.0.02 will have to do for now to get your HD working on the network. i'm sure cisco will come up with another version given the issues with the current one.

Let's hope that's true, but I would not be so sure, since they now have an E4200v2 and an EA4500 that gets more new firmware attention than the old E4200v1. ![]()

Even the E4200V2 is a legacy product now.
There go any leftover changes of an updated firmware.

Hey there!! Would like to suggest you just hit the reset button (press/hold for 5-10 seconds, pg 18 of 80 of PDF manual). If we give you our backup files, it will have cute SSID names, weird passwords and you can't get in to connect, especially with address filtering enabled.... so a big reset will get it back to the factory blank state. Good wishes to you!
