Parental Controls on E2000

Hi,

I have been trying to set parental controls for my kids. I only want to set parental controls on the weekdays. I've noticed that the option to disable it on the weekends is not available. Once I select "specific time".. the weekends tab enables and  can't disable it.

Is there a way to disable parental controls on the weekends besides having to disable parental controls entirely?

I would greatly appreciate it if that option is available. Honestly, I am not sure why it wouldn't be available.

Re: Parental Controls on E2000

Are you using Cisco connect software to enable parental control on your router.

In blocking Internet access, you can select Never, Always or Specific times.  For children and teenagers who are still studying, it is recommended to set specific times especially during school nights.  Click Finish to save.

Follow this link and see if that helps you.

Hi..

Thanks for the reply..

I know how to set parental controls..what I want is to be able to ONLY select school nights. The problem is that when I select "specific times", the "weekends" section gets enabled. I want parental controls to only be enabled for school nights. I would like for "weekends" to be an option by itself.

Re: Parental Controls on E2000

That is correct. When you select 'Specific times' , Weekend tab will also get enabled. I think it is not possible to disable Weekend tab when you select 'Specific Time'.

I think you need to disable the Parental control entirely on weekends or you can select time Midnight to 12:30 AM.

That will disable the Internet access for half hour only.

You can also try using Access Restriction using web Interface of the router but for that you need to Disable the parental control on Cisco connect. Follow this link to know more about access restriction using web Interface of the router.

Ok... I'm home now.. the "access restrictions" tab is missing on the E2000. Where can I find it?

Ok.. the reason I wouldn't see the "Access Restrictions" tab is because I had enabled Parentl Controls..Once you enable parental controls..access restrictions tab is removed. I had to reset the router and now I see the Access Restrictions tab.

The problem now is that lets say I want to deny access from 9pm  to 7am.. it won't let me.. it says I need to select a time that's later than the initial time (9pm). so, I found the work around is to select 9pm to 11:55pm.. then create another policy from 12am to 7am.. having a 5min laps from 11:55pm to 12am..but i guess that's fine.. but it shouldn't be like that..oh well, nothing is perfect.

I think the settings that you have done is correct .

Also you can try to upgrade the firmware and configure the settings on the router manually and see if that helps you .

Hi.. I have the latest firmware and the settings I mentioned above were made manually in the router.."not using the software".

Re: Parental Controls on E2000

You can't cross midnight as you have discovered but you can change to ALLOW access then choose 07:00 to 21:00.

My problem is the E series routers don't allow you to filter internet content (e.g porn), you can only block individual sites and of coarse to block porn I would have to enter thousands of sites and new ones every day!!
