Poor signal WRT54G and WSB24

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I have a WRT54G and WSB24 signal booster.

I have them set up as an access point and a signal booster. It is connected to an ATT Motorola  NVG589

I have a very poor signal coming from the system.  The signal coming from my Motorola is excellent.

I did have it connected to a previous modem and it did work just fine.

Could there be some compatibly issue??

Is there a way to boost the signal strength

Regards

Hey megharupa8! Which device's signal would you like to boost? Is the WRT54G's or the Motorola's? By the way, these are Linksys legacy devices, have you thought of getting a newer router? Check out their AC devices like the EA6900 and the WRT1900AC. These ones are beasts!

I do have the  I do have the WRT54G connected to the WSB24 already

I am using the WRT54G as an access point only I connect a DSL line from the Motorola

Hi megharupa8, try resetting your WRT54G to factory defaults and reconfigure it again. I suggest that you try changing the wireless channel. What's the speed behind the modem? What about behind the router? I suggest that you change the wireless channel to to 1 or 11. Check out this link here. Let me know how it goes.

I would suggest loading Tomato Firmware 1.28 on the WRT54G. You will see better performance and increased wi-fi speeds.

Re: Poor signal WRT54G and WSB24

Thank you for your reply,

When I connect my computer wirelessly to my Motorola NVG589 Modem?// Router?  Not sure what to call it. The connection signal is excellent.   I am using the WRT54G - WSB24 as an access point only I connect a DSL line from the Motorola to the WRT54G and it is connected to the WSB24 to boost the signal. The signal to my computer is fair. They are both in the same location as the Motorola unit.

I have the DHCP server disabled in the WRT54G.

I don’t have a DSL line coming into my home.

I did try a reset using the button on the WRT54G the WSB24 has no reset button.

I did try channel 1 and 11 no difference in the signal strength.
