Port Forwarding Help.

How do I set up port forwarding for my game? Can anyone just make some simple steps for me? I read the guide that came with the router but wasn't much helpful. Also this is the IP Address: 69.227.49.12 but what do I do with it.

Thanks.

Re: Port Forwarding Help.

Depending on which router/version you have.  Under the Setup tab there should be a Forwarding sub-tab.  When you get there set the port range for what ever port your game needs and the IP address assigned to that pc.  Some games need either TCP/IP or UDP so make sure you have the right protocol.  Then set the Port Triggering for the game and the IP range to the host pc.

Your IP address is not a correct one for local private networks (router-based networks). Are you connected straight to the modem? Coz i'm pretty sure that IP is from your internet provider. (It has cable written all over it)

If you think you're connected to the router, double-check if the modem goes to the router's internet port, and the computer to any of the numbered ports of the router.

Then go to the command prompt (start->run_cmd) and type "ipconfig" there. Your default gateway is your router's ip address. That's the address you should be filling in on the URL bar of your web browser. Use admin as the password, and leave the username blank. Then go to the applications & gaming tab, and under that main tab go to port forwarding. Fill-in the ports and the IP address of your computer there. Make sure your computer is set for a static ip.

http://www.portforward.com/ has a great interactive guide to port forwarding. just select the router you are using and the game/app you need to open ports for.
