Removing desktop computer from wireless network

I have a wrt54gs router that I use for my laptop wirelessly  and wired to my desktop.Due to space issues at my house I have to unhook and pack up my desktop and put it away in storage. The question is do I have to do anything with my router setup and also with easylink before I disconnect my desktop?I will still be using my laptop wirelessly with my router. So basically i'm just removing my desktop from my router setup. One other question what does the unwire function in easylink do?

Re: Removing desktop computer from wireless network

removing your desktop from the network wont harm anything with the wireless...   however..

if you ever need to configure your router further, and you cannot connect to the router via wireless,  you will have to use a network cable to connect...

if your laptop has a LAN port, you wont even have to worry about that...

But for the most part, for using the internet..   you wont have a problem

No need to do anything. Router will handle change automatically.

Re: Removing desktop computer from wireless network

You can install easylink advisor on laptop as well. Or you can change settings of router using its web based setup at http://192.168.1.1

Re: Removing desktop computer from wireless network

I called Linksys and they said easylink was for hardwired computers not a wireless laptop

Re: Removing desktop computer from wireless network

Dear Sir/Madame,

I inadvertently used my router; Name:- "Cisco Linksys Wireles-G Broadband Router WRT54G2" in my Desk Top computer after having loaded it in my Lap Top, previously.  Before I made this mistake, both the Desk Top and the Lap Top worked perfectly.  Now, though my Desk Top's internet icon shows that the the computer is connected to the internet, I cannot gain access because the pop up menu indicates that I have an "Unidentified Network" which I am unable to disable or remove. This problem is due in my view by my accessing the Linsky router for my Desk Top.

I am continuing to use the router for my Lap Top; hence I can send you this email.  So the router is working perfectly there.  In the case of my DeskTop, I am unable to recover my operating system by using Recovery Manager because of some technical problems; which I can solve once I get the Desk Top properly connected to the internet.

My Desk Top is HP Pavilion Slimline s3600t with Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bits the operating system.

My Lap Top is HP Pavilion dv7-3 Entertainment Notebook with Windows 7 64 bits the operating system.

Thanks in advance for you kind consideration and early response.

Nello R. Raphael.
