Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

Thanks for that. The printer is not the issue, some routers don't have Multicast filtering options available. I just want to know which Linksys routers work with AirPrint and Bonjour as I don't want to waste money again. As there are hundreds of millions of iOS devices out there, surely someone knows the answer! I can't believe it's this hard to find out.

Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

Well as you can see from the UIs I provided, the Linksys E3000 has a multicast feature. I opened some of my routers web ui for you. You can see it on the E1000, E1200...

And the E1500, E1550, E4200 etc etc.

Hope you decide on a router soon :smileylol:

Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

Thanks again. Am I right in thinking that the E series do not have a built-in modem? I need a modem router. Sorry, I should have been more clear on that. The WAG120N?

Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

Yes, E-series are plain routers only while the WAG120N is a modem and a router in one.

Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

You may want something better than WAG120N.

Cisco offers a new line of X2000/X3000 Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router:

If I had some cash lying around I'd definitely want it :smileylol:

Thanks guys. I don't really know why - given the hundreds of millions of iOS devices out there - why companies don't state AirPrint compatibility in the specs.

Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

I have just tested an HP LaserJet CP15254nw with airprint on wireless using the Linksys E4200 and it works. You have to turn on multicast filtering. The router is running firmware 2.0.37.131047. However, I have only testet it for a few hours so I cannot tell you anything about the stability..earlier Linksys routers is infamous for their unstable wireless connections..

Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

One day of testing, and airPrint still works. So I guess it's stable :smileyhappy:

Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

I print to a networked HP Officejet 7410 with the HP eprint home & biz app on an iphone 4s.   I don't think the HP Officejet 7410 is on the list of supported printers but it works great anyway.  I can't scan though.  It has worked (printed) perfectly for 6 months on a WRT54G2 v1.5 and now for the last month on an E4200v2.  WRT54G2 had multicast filtering enabled and E4200v2 does not have multicast filtering enabled............so diff communication method I guess.

Re: Routers compatible with Airplay and Bonjour?

The GUI on the Cisco home routers seriously needs to be updated. They still use the same GUI as the old WRT54GR which is 3-4 years old...
