Secure Easy Setup

Trying to setup a wrt54g wireless router using the secure easy setup but am receiving the error message :"Secure Easy Setup requires that the Wi-Fi system application be installed a current version. Please ensure that the application is installed and the version is 3.90 or higher."
Anyone else have experience with the same?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Secure Easy Setup

After reading several posts in other forums, I followed their advise and also did not use the Secure Easy Setup.  You can still configure your router (albeit more easily) by connecting a network cable to your router and PC, then opening up your browser and connecting to your default gateway (which is your router and by default is set at 192.168.0.1).  Leave the username blank, password is "admin".  You will be brought to the setup screen.  If you need any help, just look at the help screens on the right side of your monitor.

Hope this helps.

Re: Secure Easy Setup

He is right...Use a computer that is online through the router, the non-wireless...

You can follow these simple steps...

1.open your internet explorer
2.clear the address bar
3.type in there-192.168.1.1
(it will prompt for username and password)
4.skip username, go to password, put admin (lower case please)
note:if it's not accepted, use the password you've setup on the router when you used the router's cd
(you now have the router's interface)
5.click the wireless tab
6.change the wireless network name or ssid
7.then hit save settings
8.press continue

(to setup wireless security)
9.click "wireless security" under wireless
10.change the security mode to wep
11.put something under passphrase
12.hit generate
13.copy the key#1 characters (that would be the password)
14.then hit save settings
15.press continue

Congratulations. You're done.
