I have an E1200 that will work fine for a while, then suddenly the download speed for all wireless devices will drop to between 20-30 KB/sec. It happened last night when we were watching videos on Hulu. We were blazing along fine, when all of a sudden the connection was horrible enough that we had to stop watching. We have no idea what changed - there are only two of us in the house and we were both passively watching Hulu.
This has happened before, and usually changing something like the wireless channel has fixed it, but not this time.
The PCs we have that are connected to the router via Ethernet get between 1-3 MB/sec, so I know it's not the modem or the ISP.
The signal strength is good (4-5 bars). I have tried repositioning the router and the wireless reciever but that hasn't helped.
I have the latest firmware for the router as far as I know (v2.0.02).
I have tried every channel available (including "Auto"). I have tried switching the Channel Width between Auto and 40 MHz. I have tried resetting the router to factory settings and re-uploading my configuraiton. I have tried setting QoS.
Any more ideas?

Where is your router located ?

The router is in the computer room, but proximity to the router doesn't seem to make a difference. My iPad just next to it has the same issue. All devices that have this problem get 4 or 5 bars, so the connection is strong.

Hmmm . I have an E4200 router and had the same issue . But when I disabled WMM Support and I was able to get it working properly .

WOW so far that worked astonishingly well. My living room computer is now getting 5+ Mbps where it was only getting 300 Kbps at the most beofre I turned that off.
Will have to test with Hulu before I declare this the solution, but it looks good so far.

In this scenario you can even try the following settings:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page). Here is the link for determining and setting up the correct MTU size: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=
Then check the status..

oh really ? wow that's nice to hear ! I have been configuring a lot of routers and disabling WMM really works for me

I haven't tried changing the MTU size - I may later because I've heard mixed things about turning off WMM Support, so I may try to turn it back on eventually, but as of right now it's working much better than it was before I turned off WMM Support.

i had the same issue with the e1200. slow speeds. i called cisco and found that 2.0.02 is an old version. did the G setting and got faster speeds. however, it is an N router so you shouldn't have to use it as a G. so this is what i did to fix the slow N connection. make sure you are making these changes while hardwired. if your wireless you are going to be knocked off once router starts resetting.
-go to homesupport.cisco.com
-in the search bar type E1200
-click downloads
-select hardware version 2.0
-under firmware. download 2.0.04
-once downloaded go to your router settings
-click administration
-you should see a browse button. find and select the file you just downloaded. click open. (remember where it downloaded to)
-click update under the browse button you pressed.
-router will start updating
-once its done, refresh 192.168.1.1
-top right hand corner should say 2.0.04
-that should be it.
-make sure settings are as they were when purchased. mixed mode, auto channel........
-went from 0.7 down to 35 down.
