VUSB OS X 10.8.2 and Auto-Connect

I'm trying to configure VUSB on OS X 10.8.2 and have been able to set it up for manual connect and disconnect. I cannot get Auto-Connect to work though, I've added the printer to the OS X list in System Preferences but when I click "Configure" in VUSB it displays a message saying it is searching for the device's driver. This message stays and never goes away and so auto-connect cannot be configured.

The printer I'm using is a Canon LBP6000 and I've been able to set up auto-connect for it in Windows.

What is the model number of your router? It is possible that the Cisco Connect software, if that is what you are using is not updated to work with Mountain Lion OS.

EA4500. I'm using VUSB, which is separate from Cisco Cloud connect software I think. It may not have been updated to work with Mountain Lion.

VUSB is also causing Mac OS X 10.8.2 to suffer kernel panics when waking from sleep. I've replicated this on two different machines.

Initially, when Mountain Lion came out, the VUSB software only ended up working with OS X 10.8.2 beta. It is possible that with OS updates, the software is once again having issues. When do you get the kernel panics? Does it specifically identify the VUSB software when you check out the Problem Report? If this is the case, the only resolution is to update the software. I don't believe there is one available at the moment though.

I get the kernel panics when waking the computers from sleep. The Problem Report does identify part of the VUSB software I believe, and uninstalling VUSB removes the problem. I am using the latest version of VUSB so an update to fix the kernel panics would be much appreciated. Here is a copy of a kernel panic log:

I believe the problem is related to the kext:

com.silex.driver.sxuptp 1.10.0

and this is installed when VUSB is installed.

As of right now there’s no update yet. Hopefully, the update will be released soon so that it would also work with mountain lion.

Anyone have any idea on this? I have been chasing my tail trying to figure out what caused my kernel panics and finally figured that this was the culprit.

It’s possibly related to this thread: VUSB only sees printer when I patch directly to the router. A user indicated that the VUSB won’t work automatically unless he connects the computer directly to the router. Another user suggested disabling other network adapters for the VUSB to work automatically. The user is using a windows based computer but possible that this would apply to MAC computers as well.
