Very Low Connection with WRT54GS / WMP54GS

I have a WRT54GS Router in one brick building and a WMP54GS adapter about 60 ft. away in another brick building. What is the effective range in this situation. I'm getting a "very Low" signal.  Also, I had problems setting this network up. In order to get the adapter to work I had to change the channel on the router from (default 6) to channel 2. Does this have something to do with my low signal? Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Re: Very Low Connection with WRT54GS / WMP54GS

the 3 channels that do not interfere with each other are 1,6 and 11. 6 is the cleanest channel being in the middle of the band, but is the most popular. have you tried using only the windows utility to manage your wireless connection? this has been known to rectify poor wireless performance.

Hi,

I will try using Windows Manager. Do you know why I can't use channel 6. When I set the router to this channel I can't get any signal...message "no wireless network found".
