WMM, on or off?

I usually turn off WMM, Wireless Multimedia Extensions (WME), also known as Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM), on my E2500's and EA2700's.

As a test, I turned it on today, on my home network..

Results were terrible, speed dropped to near zero, and router became almost unresponsive...

Why is this turned on by default, and why does it not work on my low end routers?

Re: WMM, on or off?

If I remember correctly those router models might work best with WMM disabled but it should be enabled because it's required for N protocol.
