WRT32X 5Ghz Channels

[ Edited ]

What 5ghz channels are available on the Linksys WRT32X-UK

Im considering ordering one

if it offers the complete uk spectrum

https://www.silextechnology.com/unwired/changes-to-the-5ghz-wi-fi-band-in-the-uk

which is 30 Channels total

U-NII-1 36,40,44,48
U-NII-2 52,56,60,64
U-NII-2-Ext 100,104,108,112,116,120,124,128,132,136,138,140,142,144
U-NII-3 149,151,153,155,157,159,161,165

thats

U-NII-1 = 4
U-NII-2 = 4
U-NII-2-Ext = 14
U-NII-3 = 8
Total = 30

Im really getting sick of lazy router dev's tbh and want my next router to support the complete spectrum

example with my old router's

RT-AC66U = 8 5Ghz Channels

RC-AC88U = 16 5Ghz Channels (hard region coded for germany even though its a uk model)

Re: WRT32X 5Ghz Channels

Hi, Shonky.  Only the US version of WRT32X supports the full spectrum.  The UK model conforms to EU rules. These are the supported 5GHz channel list: 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64, 100, 104, 108, 112, 116, 120, 124, 128, 132, 136, 140.  That’s 19 channels.

Re: WRT32X 5Ghz Channels

omg this router is awful it wont even bring the 5ghz online on any of the U-NII-2-Ext channels (100-140)

the router has zero options

is this a router for todlers?

and you cant even get the few things you have in there working

Re: WRT32X 5Ghz Channels

@Shonky, are you experiencing dropping of connection on your 5GHz? May we ask why do you want to change the channels of your 5GHz network? Note that you can leave it in "Auto" mode so that it'll be the one to search for the best channel in your location.

Im not taking about dropping of connections im taking of the router failing ot bring 5ghz up full stop

it goes like so

factory reset (so nice that you dont have a reset option in the web interface btw)

log into router

goto WI-FI Settings

unselect use combined WiFI Names

Set 2.4ghz Name = Whatever

Set 5ghz Name = Whatever 5Ghz

Set 2.4ghz Channel =13

Set 5ghz Channel =100

unselect enable wps

save

Whatever 5Ghz comes up on channel 100

and works

powerdown or reboot router

and its a lucky dip of either it will show up and devices will fail to connect

or it doesnt show up at all

the only way to temp fix it is factory reset again and follow the above steps

and not reboot once the 5Ghz comes up on channel 100 (well anthing 100-140)

Re: WRT32X 5Ghz Channels

I just posetd about this same issue before reading this thread. Here is what I posted:

So I think i found a firmware bug with the WRT32X WiFi. I noticed that after a GUI reboot or power loss of the router the 5Ghz WiFi would not come back on. At first I used the factory reset button and reconfigured the router but after receiving my RMA replacement today and still having the problem I decided to play around a bit. When I use the following settings the 5Ghz WiFi will not turn on after a reboot or power loss:

5 GHz Wi-Fi Mode: 802.11ac Only

5 GHz Wi-Fi Channel Width: 160 MHz

5 GHz Wi-Fi Channel: 104

When the 5Ghz WiFi fails to boot I connect VIA ethernet or 2.4ghz and switch to the following settings:

5 GHz Wi-Fi Mode: 802.11ac Only

5 GHz Wi-Fi Channel Width: 80 MHz

5 GHz Wi-Fi Channel: Auto

One the setting change is completed the 5Ghz WiFi still will not work but if I then reboot the router the 5Ghz WiFi will come up. Once the router is up and running I go back in and change to the original 160Mhz settings and after saving everything works fine until the next reboot or power loss. I have now confirmed this on two WRT32X so I believe there is a bug in the Firmware.
