WRT54G to WAP54G

I just bought a WRT54G and WAP54G and installed the latest firmware on both..

now im trying to make the WAP54G work as a repeater but as soon as I power it on, any device that trys to connect to it has limited or no connectivity....

I see that Act light flash like its trying to send data, but nothing ever connects.

I have both SSID's the same, the same WEP key, the wireless Mac address from the WRT54G in the repeater, and as far as I can tell I have done everything correct?

Anyone have the wizard disc zipped on an FTP that I can dl?

Or any thoughts as to what I am doing rong?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Re: WRT54G to WAP54G

Have you tried to make it work while wireless security is disabled? You may try that first. Also make sure that the wireless mac is correct>> on the set up page of the router> click status> wireless sub tab> here you can find the correct mac address.

No problem. By the way, I guess you have the wrt54g version 5 up? make sure that it has the latest firmware, if not upgrade it.

Re: WRT54G to WAP54G

No go with or without security on......  the Atc light flashes like its trying to talk to somthing, but it does not connect, just saiz limited or no connectivity.

Also, what is the button, that has a Cisco Systems sticker on it? Its lit up orange and when you press and hold it it starts to flash on and off white?

Im getting pretty sick of Linksys stuff giving me trouble.

I think im going to buy a different brand router and repeater and sell all my linksys stuff.

Re: WRT54G to WAP54G

Oh. the cisco button will change the wireless settings of your router, it would enable wpa wireless encryption and change as well the SSID. This is only used for linksys wireless card sync...

Make sure to upgrade the firmware of the router. I know its frustrating but just try.

Re: WRT54G to WAP54G

Thats the first thing I done was upgrade both firmwares to ensure I had as least problems as possible, Im not network guru but I kind of know enough to get things worked out within a little time, I think the WAP54G is not working as it should.

Im checking out the Buffallo stuff, they have a nice router repeater combo, ive heard good things about there products I might give them a try.

I appreciate all your help, I wish this stuff would just work....
