I'm trying to set up a WRT54G v.6 router and my laptop is picking up the signal and I can log in, however, when I open a web browser I get the Problem loading page...Server not found error. I can still access the router settings page on the laptop and change settings.
I have a desktop connected to the router via cat5 and the connection works fine.
I have DSL through AT&T and I'm using PPPoE. The router is older so I'm not sure if I have a setting messed up or if the router is broken.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What IP address are you getting on the wired desktop? and while your at the page of the router, go to the status page and give me the Internet IP address.

1. On your desktop, click Start. Type cmd in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
Look for IP address.
2. To check the your Internet IP address, on the router's page look for status tab. Paste here whatever information you have there. It will look like this, click here. Which shows 192.168.1.3.
I hope that clears it. :-)

On the status page the IP is still at 0.0.0.0 and it still says Connecting instead of connected. I followed all the steps and tried DHCP and PPPoE. Is there something that would cause that?

Have you tried changing the IP addres of your WRT54G? It seems like your router and your modem have the same address. Change the Local IP address of your WRT54G to 192.168.2.1, you'll find that procedure on the same link I gave you.

Don't worry, we'll get there. :-)
Make sure your devices are connected this way. Click here.
Disconnect the power on your modem and router. Leave them off for a minute. Start up your modem, wait until it's ready. Plug in the router again wait until ready. Now, check the status page of your router if you have an IP address. Good luck!
