I tried to download the latest firmware for my router cause it's blinking and I don't want it to die on me again so I want to update first
I;m following the instructions properly and am downloading it the way I would normally but it kepts downloading as a
.bin file
I'm stuck at Step 3. after the Pinging stuff
My file saved as a media file and even my VLC media player won't open it
Does any know how to fix this?
All help is REALLY appreciated - I've been stuck on this for ages

Hi there Z3r0!
Do not open the .bin file... It is suppose to be that way. Just save it on your desktop, to locate it easily. But this is just an option.
Delete that file that was saved as media file as you've said to avoid confusion.
First :can you ping the router?
If yes, just follow the instructions how to get to the "administration page" of the router.
Once you're in:
Click the Administraton tab then you will see sub-tab Firmware Upgrade
Click "browse" then point it to the .bin file
then click the "upgrade" button.
Hope this helps.

How do I get to the administator part of the router?

Open IE and type on the address bar "192.168.1.1"
leave the username balnk
password: admin
then do this:
Click the "Administration" tab then you will see sub-tab "Firmware Upgrade"
Click "browse" then point it to the .bin file
then click the "upgrade" button.

It doesn't let me sign in leaving the user name blank and using 'admin' as the password. Keeps taking me to a page that says Authorization Required. Is there a different process for Vista?
