My Modem (Adsl2mue) is set up and working fine, i have internet access. When I go to connect my Wireless router (Wrt54gs) my internet connection is lost. How can i set them up so they both work together.

Many thanks for the replies

Re: WRT54GS & ADSL2MUE Connectivity

What do you mean exactly with "internet connection is lost"?

How do you connect everything when it gets lost and what do you do to get it back?

Also: when the computer is directly connected to the modem and you have internet access, open a command prompt window and enter the command "ipconfig /all". Copy the output of this into your next post. It will help to see what kind of modem you have.

Re: WRT54GS & ADSL2MUE Connectivity

When just the modem is connected to the pc, the internet works fine, through Ethernet. When i disconnect that and put my router in, (modem>Router>PC) and use the wixard on the linksys cd it says, cannot find a internet connection.

My hardware is modem (Adsl2mue)
&Router (Wrt54gs)

Thanks Again

Re: WRT54GS & ADSL2MUE Connectivity

Thanks for the help the problem has been sorted. Because they were both linksys the defualt ip was the same for both of them. So i had to change the ip of the router for them to configure together.

Re: WRT54GS & ADSL2MUE Connectivity

I am having a similar issue. I have a Win98 Desktop directly connected to an ADSL modem - SIEMENS Speetstream 4100. That connection works well.

I had a WRT54G (old school, blue and black) wireless router connected to it which allowed me to use my WinXP laptop in the house. I then upgraded the router to  a WRT54GS2, and now I lose the connection to the internet every minute or so while connected through that. The connection through the modem goes down, not the connection to either the desktop or the laptop.

Here's the output of ipconfig /all when my laptop is connected directly through the ADSL modem:

Why does the new WRT54GS2 lose internet connectivity? Is it because I don't have Network Magic on the Win98 desktop? Is there anything I can do other than go back to my old router?

Thanks in advance.

Re: WRT54GS & ADSL2MUE Connectivity

I am having the same problem with my WRT54GS2 and my DSL modem. I have flashed the router

to the lastest flash.

Every 30 minutes or so I lose the connection between the router and the modem.  If I reboot

the router(repower) It comes back up again.

I don't see any way to copy and paste from the windows 7 cmd windows and here.

ie  ipconfig info

Right-click with your mouse into the command prompt window. First Mark an area. Then copy. Or you can do it this way.
