The frimware that Linksys (Cisco) has for download now is 02 / 29 / 08 Firmware version: v1.01.36 build 3. So they have NOT updated it in sometime. In fact it's is what came with my Router. So we are ALL hoping that they see we are all needing a newer update that will fix many problems. But some far we have not heard from them!!!
I see you have tried and like www.dd-wrt.com. From what I read on there site it sounds like it will fix my problems also. Can you tell me which download you used on your WRT600N (mine is the V1.1) and if you upload it to the router the same way you would firmware from Linksys? Or are there other considerations I have to be conserned about?
It's very straight forward and easy. Just go to the site. "Click" on your model (WRT600N V1.1) download the "bin" file to your computer. Make sure you are connected to you WRT600N via wire not wireless. Login to your router go to admin. "click" on upgrade firmware and browse to were you downloaded your "bin" file and select it then hit upgrade.
I would reboot your router and you are good to go!
I installed the www.dd-wrt.com firmware and it solved many of my router problems. But one problem continues to plague me and maybe it's not the WRT600N firmware.
I'm running Wireless G on my Dell Laptop and on an another device and I get a speed of 54 Mbps and everythings fine. But every now and then the speed drops to 1 Mbps and everything comes to a screeching halt on both devices. I thought it was the Linksys firmware doing something crazy, since it was so intermittent, but the www.dd-wrt.com firmware did not fix this problem.

Well good luck i cant get mine to work either.. Then they ask you to upgrade the firmware BUT the program is in a lang that you cant open!! just great!
