Running XP SP2 Home edition on the computer with the USB wireless device. Another interesting bit of information before moving computer from original location it functioned flawlessly, that was in conjunction with Linksys router (blue box).

You need to download Microsoft Patches KB917021 and KB893357 so that WinXP could support WPA2 security...

Wow! Mircosoft really is picky about allowing you to download the patches required.

Will return here with the results as soon as I have downloaded the patches. If I can indeed download them with out the web site automatically attempting to load on the computer from which I am accessing their site. The patches are not intended for that computer but for an offline system. Will let you know. Yeah I know but the user has never had this computer online it is his music mixing machine and wants it free from WAN access.

Maybe I can find some server that will allow the downloading of the patches so I can nike net them via USB device?

Re: WUSBF54G connection to WRT160Nv2 Router problem

Downloaded Microsoft Patch KB917021 and after reading it stated this patch replaced  KB893357. So I only downloaded the first patch listed here.

Unfortunately it was no go for the wireless network connection. Still can not connect to  WRT160Nv2 Router using the WUSB54G scanning and wireless device.

Until I hear from some one will test removing the Linksys software and allow windows to handle the entire connection process.

Re: WUSBF54G connection to WRT160Nv2 Router problem

After locating the patch discussed above the links device could not connect to the network.

Found and downloaded the drivers from Linksys and it worked fine.

Here is the information:

WUSBF54G Wireless-G USB Network Adapter with Wi-Fi Finder

WRT1600N V2 Linksys/Cisco router

WUSB54G_20060522.exe drivers downloaded.

Unzipped the drivers file and followed the reinstall drives steps from file manager.

All is workning.
