Hi all
I have ppoe internet connection
i have 2 routers the first is wrt54g second is wrt160n v2
I connect the internet to the wrt54g internet port
then I make ssid network (linksys1)
then I connect wire from ethernet port at the first router wrt54g to the internet port at the second router wrt160n
I disable DHCP fun. at the second router to make it as access points only
then I put SSiD network (linksys2) for the second router
connections is Ok
the problem is that the internet is always fast when connect throw the first router (linksys1) SSID
but when connect to second router network (linksys2) ssid its slow or limited (some times)
whats wrong??

1) Are you trying to create two separate networks, where users on the WRT54G cannot access anything on the WRT160N?
2) Or do you want one network, where all users can share all printers, and perhaps also share files?

sseparate network
the first (linksys1) SSID from first router wrt54g
the sec (linkysy2) from wrt160 n I add this router to the first router as access point (DHCP disable )

Make sure if the WRT54G router is running an IP Address : 192.168.1.1, the WRT160N router should be set to 192.168.1.2 if you want to use the second router just as an Access point with DHCP disabled...Also you need to connect the Ethernet port of the WRT54G router to the Ethernet Port of the WRT160N router(not the internet port)...
Adjust the wireless settings on the second router(wrt160n)...
Access your second router set-up...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
Click on the Wireless tab
-Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
- Set the Radio Band to Standard-20MHz and change the Standard channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on Save Settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WEP, Encryption should be 64 bit.Leave the passphrase blank, don't type in anything...
Under WEP Key 1 type in any 10 numbers please(numbers only and no letters eg: your 10 digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please make a note of WEP Key 1 as this is the Security Key for the Wireless Network...
Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304, Change the RTS Threshold to 2304 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

To create the two separate networks that you said you wanted, you will need to fix two problems:
Power down your entire network. Disconnect the WRT54G from the WRT160N. Using an ethernet cable, connect your computer to a LAN port on the WRT160N. Power up the WRT160N and your computer. Login to the WRT160N, and make the following changes:
1) Set DHCP server to "enabled". Reason: Because you are running two separate networks, you need two DHCP servers enabled, one in each router.
2) Set "Local IP address" to 192.168.2.1 . (Note: This asssumes WRT54G is still using 192.168.1.1 ) Reason: Your two networks must use different subnets. Your WRT54G will be using the 192.168.1.x subnet. Your WRT160N will be using the 192.168.2.x subnet.
3) Click the "Save Setting" button, then wait (3-60 seconds) for the screen to refresh. You will likely be disconnected from the WRT160N. Do not worry about this. Power down your entire network.
Next, using an ethernet cable, connect any LAN port on the WRT54G, to the Internet port on the WRT160N. Power up your network. It should work.

I do all what you tell me
but I want to ask
should the second network have different SSID or the same now I give it diffrenet
the first is linksys1 and second is linksys2
now DHCP is disabled for the second router , keep it or change ?
I connect the wire to the ethernet (not internet) at second router

Please follow the instructions in my previous post. (Note: The solution posted by Mort is a "single network" solution - it will not create two separate networks, so it will not work for you.)
Since you want two separate networks, you must use two different SSIDs. Also, please pick unique SSIDs. Please do not use "linksys" or any variation of "linksys". This will only cause you trouble at some time in the future. Use something unique, like "topgun" or "lampshade".
