I have a Desktop pc with windows Xp connnected directly to the router with a printer attached to the PC. The Printer is set up as shared. I have a laptop with Vista Home prem. that I want to use wireless to use the shared printer I have attached to the desktop. On the laptop I have Vista set for file and print sharing enabeled. From the laptop I only see the router not the desktop or shared printer. What do I need to change to see the Desktop and printer?
You need to enable file and printer sharing on your desktop and laptop so that you can use the printer with both the computers. Follow this link to configure the settings.
You need to again verify file and print sharing on the desktop. I would first turn off F&P, reboot. Then enable F&P sharing, reboot desktop. Turn off all firewalls and check you can see/connect with your laptop.
Cross check your File and Printer Sharing, make sure all firewalls are disabled on both(desktop and laptop), also make sure you have your printer drivers installed on your laptop...
