limited connectivity on 1 of 2 computers

HELP!! I have a WRT54G2 router, running wirelessly now. I have absolutely NO PROBLEMS with my laptop. But since changing my desktop from wired (it worked beautifuuly) to wireless, the desktop will not stay connected. It has low connectivity at all times. The laptop has excellent connectivity. Haven't been able to figure out what the deal is. The computers are in the same room so they should both have the same strength, right? I have reset EVERYTHING and updated desktop drivers.

Thanks

Which Service Pack of the XP you are using on the computer...?

What is the model no of the Adapter..?

Disable all the firewall and anti-virus on the computer & try to un-install and re-install the drivers for the wireless adapter on the computer.
