Re: problem with WRT54G2

It is possible that your computer picking up another wireless signal available around your area which is secure and password protected; although you get a strong signal but because it is secure, it won't allow you to get access to internet. here is what you can do:
1 - log into to your router and define SSID as a unique name . This means you are   giving a name to your own wireless signal (By default is Linksys)
2 - secure your wireless signal ( read the help if you don't know how!)
3 - Try available wireless signal and no matter what it shows you, just click on "disconnect" button to be disconnected  from the existing one.
4 - Try again for wireless signal and choose the one which you gave a unique name to it. It will ask you the security code which you already know and repeat it again for verification.
Hope it works for you.

Re: problem with WRT54G2

Make sure if you have wireless security enabled, you are entering all the information correctly as the security key is case sensitive. Also check the IP address, it should be 192.168.1.x by default.

Re: problem with WRT54G2

the securtiy key is enter correctly, and the IP address is correct, the IP address for the router and the ISP are not the same cause i think if they were the same, that could have been my problem, but they don't match so...

Re: problem with WRT54G2

Check If you can ping the router and the DNS addresses. If yes then ping to Yahoo.com and see if you are getting replies.

Hey, DirtySnake

I bought the same router and I'm also using Comcast. Lately, I'm having a similar problem as yours. My router works perfectly with the cable for internet and network. Now, my wireless is a big problem! Every minute the wireless drop and refresh it again. I'm not kidding, it's EVERY MINUTE!!!

Actually, I don't know what to do. I've tried to put all the Wireless MAC Address of the computers but not results. It's still keep dropping.

I just want to say to you this, because maybe the problem that we are having is due of this WRT54G2.

PS: Oh, I can say that is the router wireless because I tried to ping two computers on the wireless network and they drop for a couple of seconds and than restablish the connection again pinging normally.

Re: problem with WRT54G2

now the problem i'm having is not that the connection is dropping, but everytime i try to go on a webpage i get this Comcast High-speed installation page. i don't think its the router because i've also try the  WRT54GL, and i get the same result. do i have to call comcast to setup a wirelesss connection? cause i dont see where else the problem can be.

Re: problem with WRT54G2

Well, I think u first should test the conection with your modem connected directly to your computer. I did this and I discovered that it was my router. Later, I decided to reset my router and set it up everything again. For my lucky, it worked!

Actually, I think I was having problem with my Wireless Security. I just changed from WPA2 to WPA and solved my problem.

I think that you should call ComCast.
