router won't send wireless signal, but still works when using ethernet cable

My router is not sending a wireless signal.  I know my internet is working because I can access the internet via ethernet cable plugged into my moden OR ethernet cable plugged into my router and then another from the router to the computer.  I now have this website pulled up

http://192.168.1.1/

to check about whether or not something just reset inside the router or what.  Of course, I haven't a clue what it all means.  Am I in the right place? What should I be looking for?  Is there another website I should visit?

Thank you.

Re: router won't send wireless signal, but still works when using ethernet cable

Hi wingsandrings and welcome to the forums!

You may need to configure and personalize your wireless settings in order for your wireless computers to connect. This way, you know what's the name of your wireless signal.

Please click on the links below for the step by step instructions.

Re: router won't send wireless signal, but still works when using ethernet cable

I have a e2500 and everything was working fine with the  setup I had until Comcast set us up with a new modem and much faster internet speed. My computer runs fine with an ethernet cable but my cell phone, ipad, and xbox will not. Cisco Connect links them fine and the Ipad, phone, and xbox recognize the router. Everything is hooked up ok, I am just not getting a wireless signal from my router. I have reset the router and started from step one but nothing.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: router won't send wireless signal, but still works when using ethernet cable

shelb86,

If your new modem is a combination modem/router, then you'll need to use the link below to set up your E2500. If your new comcast modem is just a plain modem, then disregard.

Change the wireless network name (SSID) on the router so with the wireless channel. Do not leave it on auto. You can play around with channels 3,6,9,and 11. For the wireless security, use WPA2 personal then create also your own wireless password. And when before you reconnect to the new network on your wireless devices, remove first the old wireless network. Check out these sites to guide you how to remove the old networks as well as how to change the wireless settings on the router:

Re: router won't send wireless signal, but still works when using ethernet cable

Hello anpmays, do you have the same router with shelb86? Which is E2500? But, E2500 doesn't have a wireless light, so I would assume you have a different model number. Are you still able to access the router page? Make sure that the SSID Broadcast is Enabled.
