802.11r not possible across Wifi bands (LAPAC 2600)?

The design of the LAPAC 2600 software treats the two Wifi bands (2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz) as separate for SSIDs. Meaning that even if you have the same SSID for each band, the AP treats it as if you have two SSIDs.

In particular, this means you cannot enable Fast Roaming (802.11r) on a typical single SSID network that has both 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz enabled. You can enable 802.11r for the 2.4 Ghz radio (radio1), and then when you select it for the 5 Ghz band (radio2), it pops up an error message saying:

Are there any work arounds to this problem, and why does the LAPAC 2600 not treat identitical SSIDs on the two radios as a single SSID (since that is what clients do)?

@Cosmacelf,

The fast roaming feature can be enabled on 1 SSID only, either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, that is if you have multiple APs. If you only have one, then enabling the fast roaming is useless. Also, make sure that the wireless devices connecting to the APs should support 802.11 K.

so, Basically you cannot enable roaming if you are using Bandwith steering.

I have 2 RE9000 as access points and i cannot enable roaming.

Thanks
