Re: UBUNTU + WUSB600N v2 WORKS!!

[ Edited ]

Dear all,

I used the usb device on several older ubuntu server systems. In this time it was necessary to go on like SpiderTex mentioned. However, I currentyl installed the ubuntu 12.04 LTS server version. I pluged in the usb device and the device was recognized without any problem by the os:

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 1737:0079 Linksys WUSB600N v2 Dual-Band Wireless-N Network Adapter [Ralink RT3572]

This was never the case on older systems!

So, I installed directly wpa_supplicant package as mentioned on: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/WLAN/wpa_supplicant

and went trought the installtion. It worked without any problem. Attention: There is a test mentioned with the line:

sudo wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -D wext -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf -d

Code this line and press enter. Open a new terminal and test the connectivity with

iwconfig

This was for me not clear but the rest worked quite well.

I tested furthermore the connection speed: At 2.4GHZ I had something about 144Mb/s and at 5GHZ I hat speed in the range of 270 - 300 MB/s.

Have fun with the usb stick.
