Hi there,
Last night I tried to connect to the admin page of my E4200 router but it failed.
Google Chrome returned a ERR_CONNECTION_RESET error.
I've tried both Wifi and ethernet, IE/Firefox/Chrome and several (internal and external) PC's.
I already tried resetting the router (holding the reset button for +30 seconds) but that doesn't work either.
The light start flashing for a while but nothing more.
Even the Wifi security settings stay the same, so I guess it didn't even reset fine.
Then I tried to disconnect all cables and wifi devices and tried the things above again but nothing worked.
The router works fine, I can connect to the internet and all other connected devices but I can't access the admin page.
It only accepts HTTPS connections.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

REMARK:
With the sentence 'It only accepts HTTPS connections.', I mean that I've set up the router to only accept HTTPS connections and now I cannot access it.
UPDATE:
Portforwarding doesn't seem to work anymore so maybe the reset has worked after all.
I can't access the admin pages though, not through HTTP (assuming it has been reset), HTTPS, internally nor externally.
Is there a way to access the adminpages in another way or reinstall the firmware without having to access the admin pages?
Tnx!

UPDATE:
After stumbling on following threads:
http://homecommunity.cisco.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT54GR-Firmware-Upgrade-problem/td-p/371905
I tried installing IETester.
When trying to open the admin pages in IETester, it worked.
Even when I tried to open a IE8 session in IETester, it works, while trying to open the admin pages in IE8 (not through IETester), it doesn't work.
Anyway, I'll try to upgrade the firmware to v1.03 and report back here.

Upgraded to v1.03 without success.
I'm still getting the same errors and the web page only works in IETester.
An additional problem is that port forwarding isn't working anymore.
My brother has the same router and has the same problems (port forwarding works though, firmware v1.02).
When enabling HTTP access, I can connect to the admin pages in any browser ... but I'd like to only enable HTTPS.

I have the exact same problem.
I had enabled access to admin pages only via HTTPS and it was working all this time. But suddenly, for no apparent reason, recently it stopped working. I now get the "connection was reset" message when trying to access the pages using HTTPS.
After resetting the router I now have enabled both HTTP and HTTPS access and now I can at least access the router configuration pages using the HTTP protocol but still the HTTPS does NOT work.
I also did a chat with cisco support on this issue but they had no clue what I was talking about. All they said was try using cisco connect from the same computer that I originally used to setup. I told them I DID NOT use cisco connect at all. All they could suggest was to press the reset button for 30 seconds and try agin. Still NO luck (HTTP works however).
Does anyone has any clues what is causing this problem with HTTPS ?
FYI - I have firmware version 1.0.0.03 installed.

It's some update by MS that is causing this, together with some issues in the Linksys firmware (all versions).
A workaround is to use IETester (http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage).
Others say also Safari is working (a windows version is also available!), but I haven't tested that myself.
I know it's an unacceptable workaround, but it's the only way to stay 'safe' (using HTTPS).

After suffering thru the loss of my trusty WRT54G DD-WRT
, I decided on the E4200. Followed install instructions. All went fine until... I switched to HTTPS. Long story short... Download SAFARI for Windows/Mac and your problems go away. Not a problem so far...
This is an inexcusable frustration from a company of this magnitude and needs to be addressed/rectified quickly.
Thanks Nullius!!

I have an ip webcam which i connect thru portforwarding.
Since i upgrade from 1.0.01 to 1.0.03 it does not work anymore!
I did resets 30-30-30 trick, factory default etc but portforwarding does not work anymore ! I am really getting pissed of of this router..
There is so many things not working (WAN-LAN speed capped!) very very slow GUI..
HTTPS not working in IE...
(Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance.)

@Da_Fahzha: glad I could help :-)
@psies: Well, after resetting my device a couple of times, port forwarding stopped working.
I tried several things: resetting the router, loading the configuration from a backup, rebooting it, resetting it again and manually configuring it (instead of loading the backup config), rebooting it again, forwarding ports that weren't forwarded before, ... Nothing worked.
Then, after 1 or 2 days, it suddenly worked again (without changing anything!).
So I'd suggest waiting a bit and maybe rebooting it once in a while ... I have absolutely no clue what is causing this though.
It's quite clear that the firmware for the E4200 has some serious issues:
- Capped WAN-LAN speed
- No HTTPS support in IE/Firefox/Chrome (I guess somewhat 90% of users use one of these 3)
- Port forwarding acting kinda weird/unpredictable after reset
Especially when it comes to their top range router, this is just inacceptable.
Seems to me Linksys is using its link to Cisco to pretend delivering high quality routers .. I've always been a happy customer (had a couple of WRT routers in the past) and recommended it to all my friends and family.
I'm severely reconsidering that ... especially because they're absolutely doing nothing about it (some of these issues are well known for a long time!)

Ok, just to see if it was some windows update causing the issue with accessing the admin pages using the https protocol, I tried accessing the admin pages using Firefox on Linux, no luck.
Then I tried using the Opera browser under Linux to access the admin pages using https, no luck again.
It seems, only Safari is currently known to work and it may be more to it than some windows update causing the issue.
Using Opera browser, I get the following message (without any prompt for admin password):
"Connection closed by remote server".
