Re: E4200 v1 firmware 1.0.06 "Back Up Configuration" not working

You don't consider having to rebuild a configuration for 2 hours to be something unusual? I do.

Re: E4200 v1 firmware 1.0.06 "Back Up Configuration" not working

If they broke the router within the framework of a feature release then best practices require that they repair the feature release of the software. They put a shiny new login page in the Firmware Version: 1.0.06   but can't put a clean mechanism to do a backup of the firmware config file. That is pretty shoddy. Has anyone noticed the quality of the "Restore Configuration" interface. Makes me wonder if there will be problems with it also.

Very simple solution to the Linksys configuration backup! If you are using custom port, use:

http://      IP Address : Port Number       /Linksys_E4200V1_v1.0.06.cfg

Too bad Linksys makes users debug their routers. I will not buy any more Cisco/Linksys/Belkin equipment. Too many other good options out there.

Re: E4200 v1 firmware 1.0.06 "Back Up Configuration" not working

Tanks Wally! I solved the solution by buying a EA6900 because it was ostensibly faster. After trying to configure it I found it has problems of its own. The solution from support was to reload the same buggy firmware level.  You can't win. I will explore the other options you mentioned. I already replaced my AP with a competitors product.

I'm one of the "others" your post has helped.  Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.  At this point, it is unlikely that Belkin / Linksys will fix this rather annoying problem, so having this hack available is a lifesaver.  Kudos!
