Coming from a Netgear WNDR3700. Too many problems.
So far its very fast. Firmware does not seem to be finished. though.
Logs do not work
Will IPV6 be included in future firmware update?
Question on USB - does it have to be formatted NTFS to be recognized? It will not work with my
Seagate 500 mb HD, I plug it in and it shows up but I cannot access the files? Any experienced
Lynksys users that can help me?
Thanks

I don't have your answers but do have a few questions. Does this router run hot? Have you had any problems with port forwarding? How is the wireless signal strength?
I too have the WNDR3700 and find it has too many firmware problems. I'm hoping to replace it with this Linksys if it works well.

OK My mistake on the USB share, found out the particular HD I had must be in NTFS to be recognized. Reformatted and it finds it perfectly!
I will start another title with a review.

It does have to be formatted but even then NONE of my USB drives were recognized. NONE. Best of luck since I got tech support from India here, just like my 3700 too......

It needs to be formatted in NTFS. Good to know that it is working.

Hi Charlie!
Sorry can't help you with file access (don't have yet 4200), probably it is in User Guide, isn't it (Appendix B, depends on your OS)?
Can you help me and tell what are power adaptor parameters (in,out)?
Thanks,
Oleg.

My logs do not work either. Also, why not have the computer name field next to the mac address on the restricted mac access option, sure would help identify faster. My cheap airlink 101 had it, surprised for 179.00 the 4200 doesn't have it. I thought cisco was tops?

Hey Charlie I just installed and setup this router. The harddrive that I use is formatted with fat32 and works great.
On your harddrive are you setting it up as an FTP server ?
I learned the hard was when I was at Annual Training that you have to tell the router to disconnect the harddrive before you can access the files you currently have on the drive. I know this is the oppisite the problem you are haveing however it may be the solution for you as well. When you plugged in your drive I'm sure you enabled under storage the media server or the ftp server and you mapped the harddrive so your system can see the drive. what most people forget is you have to use the "admin" as the password and user name to access the files on the harddrive when you map the drive. You can also create a new password and login for one of your server options.
Hope this helps.
