Re: WRT3200ACM and WRT32X Firmware update available 1-11-2018

[ Edited ]

On my WRT3200acm, I'm seeing more latency with it and I'm not sure if router is losing connection to my cable modem or something.  It seems to fixed itself in 10 to 30 seconds.  For example, when I go to mail.yahoo.com using google chrome, chrome would tell me it is caching the webpage and it sit there for 10 to 30 seconds.  WRT3200acm is now disconnecting my phone calls using OOMA.  My wife and kids doesn't see me as a tech guy anymore with the evil stare.  Put the WRT3200acm back in the box and put in netgear R7000P and everything is back to normal.  No more latency.

that was my experience with the 3200acm also. I didn't realize that my voip calls would stop for 5-10 seconds during a call and then continue to work. didn't actually disconnect the call just couldn't hear anything. I have gone back to my old Linksys EA6900 and all is good now. Another thing i noticed since going back is that my voice commands to Alexa are sent immediately where there was a delay before. Alexa turn off the tv works instantly now where sometimes it would take up to a minute to send the command to the remote control box. I hope that Linksys is still actively working on this! Its been pretty quiet since the last release.

I have gone back to my old Netgear Nighthawk R7000, too. My connection is solid, no dropouts, speed is better and downloads are so much faster.

It is a shame because I want the features of the WRT32X for gaming and MU-MIMO.

I would return the router, but I lost the receipt, so i guess i just have to hold onto it and Linksys can fix it.

Can you give clarification on how much longer it will take for you to fix the KRACK vulnerabilities for the WRT devices? I am using it as a wireless bridge and would really like to see this fixed already, it has been four months now. OpenWRT fixed all of it in a week...

am I mistaken that by applying this firmware update you are making the routers no longer Open Source Ready and they cannot accept all kinds of 3rd party firmware. Because that's what I am experiencing with my WRT3200ACM right now. I cannot use the firmware I need on it!

The firmware has nothing to do with it not accepting open source firmware, and everything to do with a change in the NAND chip used in units made some time after September of last year.

My suggestion would be to contact Linksys directly or return to the place of purchase and try to find a unit manufactured before September of last year.

I do know Sams Club would be a good place to look.

Good luck!

Ok. If so, would you please refer me to a link of ANY KIND of non-Linksys firmware that I can successfully upload to my new WRT3200ACM. I guess it has to be such as to support NAND chip. Looking forward to your reply.

At this point there are none that I know of, and from everything I have read you can only flash Linksys firmware until Linksys figures out the issue.

You might want to return it and try another Brand and end the pain Now!
