Re: WRT32X Dropping Wifi?

I'm having the same problem, wifi getting disconnected every now and then. I've got an ethernet connection directly in my apartment, so no modem is involved. I ran the logging you asked for @chadster766. It ran for almost 24h, but here's an excerpt from when the problem was happening:

I got 2.3mb more of this stuff, if it is of interest I can provide a zip of the log in a PM or something. I hope this gets sorted out by engineering, as it's rather frustrating to have the wifi go up and down. Not sure if this is the best way to get it fixed. I'd be happy to attach the log to some issue in a bug tracking system if that is more appropriate.

Thanks, it looks like the new firmware is switching between 80Mhz and 40MHz causing the client to disconnect.

80Mhz: "ptr->ch_width=1,ptr->center_freq0=42,ptr->center_freq1=0"

40Mhz: "ptr->ch_width=0,ptr->center_freq0=0,ptr->center_freq1=0"

For a test set the 5Ghz to 40Mhz on the new firmware.

Re: WRT32X Dropping Wifi?

Sure, will try that and see how it works out. The problem is there for 2.4ghz as well, will try to put that on 40hz and see if that helps there as well.

For 2.4Ghz I recommend 20Mhz instead of 40Mhz.

Re: WRT32X Dropping Wifi?

I installed the (.208) firmware now my 5Ghz freezes up the light on the router is solid and the 2.4Ghz flashes and works but the 5Ghz works for a few mins if i unplug the router and plug it back in and then back to soloid light with no 5Ghz

Re: WRT32X Dropping Wifi?

I just wanted to chime in that I'm having a similar issue. I also think the router is sporadically ignoring my DNS settings, but that is likely a separate issue. Not happy with this router so far.

The behavior I'm seeing seems to only occur on my 2.4GHz network. The 5GHz network seems to be OK. Just thought I would chime in, I will be following this thread!

Re: WRT32X Connects to Internet But Won't Load Web Pages

Problem Possibly Solved.

We forgot about a WiFi range extender (Netgear WN3000RP v3)  at the other end of the house installed in my son's old room.  It was connected by Ethernet cable to  whatever router I used.

We checked it tonight a found the extender wasn't working on either its Etherent connection or WiFi, even when placed next to our working Asus router.  Removed it entirely and then reconnected the heretofore not working WRT32X router and all is well!!  It appears for reasons unknown, this defective WiFi range extender has been the cause of all our grief with the WRT32X.

If things go south agian, I will issue a follow up report.  But for now all is well with our WRT32X.  Thanks to everyone who took the time to respons to my origianl post.

Re: WRT32X Connects to Internet But Won't Load Web Pages

same issue here. i downgraded to the .208 firmware and still encountering the same issue. it works better and my devices stay connected to the wifi but no internet activity after downgrading. before it wouldnt connect at all to wifi after about 30 minutes.

Re: WRT32X Dropping Wifi?

I haven't tried the .208 firmware yet. I mentioned before that it just seemed to be the 2.4GHz network. That seemed like the case earlier, I was able to switch to 5GHz and it was working. However, since than I've had to reboot my router twice. This last time i was watching my phone attempt to reconnect to the wifi every few seconds, over and over. Both networks behaved the same. No devices would connect including my Chromecast, etc.

This seems like insanely buggy firmware. What the heck Linksys?
